A Peaceful Escape to Diyar Resort, Kashmir

I left Lahore early in the morning, around 6:30 AM, to avoid traffic. The route was surprisingly smooth: Lahore → Gujrat → Jhelum → Kohala Bridge → Dhirkot. The total drive took about 6 to 7 hours, including a breakfast stop near Jhelum. Once I crossed into Kashmir, the landscape completely changed; the roads began to twist through lush green mountains, pine-covered hills, and refreshing air that instantly lifted my mood.

By the time I reached Diyar Resort, it was early afternoon. The first thing that caught my eye was how beautifully it blended into the forest. The cottages stood against a backdrop of tall pine trees, their wooden exteriors giving the perfect “mountain lodge” feel.

At check-in, the staff welcomed me with warm smiles and Kashmiri tea, a gesture that instantly made me feel at home. My room had large glass windows overlooking the valley, and the view was straight out of a painting, mist rolling over green hills, sunlight peeking through the trees, and complete silence except for chirping birds.

My first evening was spent sipping Kashmiri chai by a bonfire, under a sky full of stars. The next day, I explored nearby Neela Butt, wandered forest trails, and relaxed with a book on my balcony. The food, especially the Kashmiri trout, was delicious, and the staff were genuinely warm and welcoming.

Leaving after two days felt harder than I expected. Diyar Resort isn’t just a place to stay, it’s where you slow down, breathe deeply, and rediscover calm.

Travel tip: Leave Lahore early, pack warm clothes, and bring your camera, the views are unreal.
